Bullhorn Evangelist predicts God will kill Sabbath breakers
In my recent post entitled ‘Bullhorn Believer’ I talked about the victory of grace over legalism in South Africa with regards to how Christians react to a national road running event [Comrades Marathon] being held on a Sunday.
Right on cue a world class Bullhorn Believer has weighed in suggesting that God killed two runners last years and runners this year need to beware: running on a sunday may get you killed by God.
Hansie Louw, who until last month was the leader of the African Christian Democratic Party in the Western Cape, said in a statement at the weekend that he was asking all Christians to withdraw from the race to give a message to organisers.
“Last year two athletes died during or after Comrades. Was this a message from above? How many athletes will run with this type of threat?” he said.
Louw, emphasising that his was not a party position, said that two years ago he called for a boycott of the marathon when it was announced that the race would move to a Sunday.
Last year he did not run the race, but this year he entered hoping he could run the race on a Monday, June 16.
“The Comrades Marathon Association has now announce[d] dates for future races as well – all on a Sunday!
“So from me and many other Christians, it is now a final farewell.
“On June 16 I will run the Comrades distance in Cape Town and will enjoy and celebrate Youth Day with my Christian friends.
“May Comrades soon be dead and buried! Christ will live forever.”
Asked whether he really thought God would resort to such drastic measures as killing runners to get his message across, Louw told Sapa: “It’s difficult to understand [or to] interpret that in that way, but it’s also not impossible.
“There’s no definite association to that, which is why I put it as a question.”

Perhaps Hansie Louw needs to question who’s sabbath God wants us to observe – His [Saturday] or ours [Sunday] anyway why would God not appreciate Comrades runners? Surely they are honoring God’s creation by training and looking after their health so as to be able to complete the grueling ultra that is Comrades!
Judge not…
Hansie we Love you anyway
thank you for expressing your ‘love’ for me = not sure what was meant. Anyway – the real question is this: is God alive? and then, if He is, what role does he play on earth – active or passive? And by the way – I never predicted God would kill Sunday runners. The question is: did God kill some-one in Acts (Ananias)? Can He heal today? Can He kill today? Sunday or Saturday (Sabbath for some people ) is not the issue – the issue is: is God alive and is it possible to have a relationship with him?
